Turkish Language history

Turks & Kurds have a very violent recent history. The Iraqi Kurds happen to control the oil-rich Mosul area, which has been producing oil since WWI. Turkish intervention will be to crush Kurdish moves towards independence, since that will likely lead to Turkish Kurds breaking away to join their Iraqi kin, and the Iranian Kurds won t be far behind. One of the prime human rights complaints against the Turks has been its treatment of its Kurdish minority(who are not even allowed to speak their language in public).
